With the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are in isolation from our mothers, so Welch wrote, “We can’t always be with the ones we love, but that can’t stop us from saying ‘I love you.’ I wrote this song one May when I was far away and couldn’t be with my mom on Mother’s Day. Rawlings and Welch is also the team behind the independent record label, Acony Records, which came together in 2001 after they discovered a cache of demos and home recordings from the early 2000s. ![]() You might recall that Welch is part of David Rawlings’ band Dave Rawlings Machine (who stopped by Minneapolis in 2015).Īt that time, the two worked together for their seventh collaboration album Nashville Obsolete.
